this year’s

special projects

2019’s Global Classroom Initiative has an exciting new focus: the launching of Ladakhipedia (an open-sourced, student-built encyclopedia focusing on local history, language, arts and sciences). We want our global partners to use this as inquiry-learning unit on defining (and coding!) their concept of who we are and where we come from.

Of course, we’ll also have GCI’s on climate change, energy and music and arts because those are always “hot” topics; with Cynthia visiting schools in Canada and USA.

Join us! Invite us to your school and create a GCI!

Winter-Camp-in-a-Box

2019 introduces Winter-Camp-in-a-Box,: Instead of HEALTH Inc and the HELP Fund helping individual villages lead Winter and Ability Camps, we will hold Leadership Camps for Youth Associations across Ladakh, and send those leaders home with a kit filled with inquiry learning ideas, tools and materials.

We hope it’s a way to scale the Seven Summits framework of inquiry learning and 21st Century skills development across all of Ladakh.

You can help – donate tablets and learning materials to a box, or give us $125 to create a village box. Or volunteer for a Leadership Camp.

hiv 4

2019’s HIV-Hepatitis B support for Positive Women and their Families continues to provide subsidies when a family can no longer afford to go for viral load testing or stay on meds. Families need that mom to grow healthy. What an important investment.

One of HEALTH Inc’s board members said “it’s great we can provide a subsidy for the seriously mentally ill to stay on their meds, but what are we doing for street people with mental illness?” What indeed. So this year we’re exploring what the best charities across India are doing and how can we adapt and use their ideas.

Both projects could use your support this year.

talk about feel-good

Our volunteers and interns are a huge part of what makes us so successful – and makes our projects so diverse and innovative.

In 2019, we are looking for an on-line group of volunteers who can help us

  • code apps for our community based rehabilitation project, allowing remote village, disabled kids to stay in touch with a health professional – and with their lifeskills goals,
  • structure Ladakhipedia with design and templates that makes it function like Wikipedia, and help our future leaders learn how to maintain it.

And we’re looking for 3 hockey enthusiasts (especially with mentorship and teaching experience) to help during Leadership Camps (December-January)

Stay in touch with us and with your projects.
