global projects

connections

Our programs adhere to three principles:

We create global partnerships – through sharing ideas and experiences we build relationships of trust and success.

We nurture community-based social entrepreneurs – anywhere we work – they create sustainable change.

We invest in universal access to information. It’s tough to make good decisions about your future without making informed decisions.

for more than a decade, the HELP Fund has been supporting the Global Classroom Initiative, which aims to develop and use inquiry-based learning units asking questions about who we are and the community we belong to.

past global classrooms have linked:

South Chicago, Canadian Rockies School District and Ladakh schools to discuss “how much energy do we use and what is the cost?”

Albertan and Ladakh schools to develop a food waste-reduction program (which resulted in 40% less food waste).

Montreal and Ladakh learning groups to look at Newtonian physics on the hockey rink.

and linked schools across North America who are learning about climate change with school kids who are living through devastating climate change effects in the Western Himalayas.

this year's global classroom creates two challenging inquiries:

Our Yountan Yargyas Team (Education Development) are creating offline learning systems so that no children fall into a digital divide –  and are challenging North American students to do the same, documenting their community, its culture, traditions, geography, history, economy, and (of course) local song and dance.

Think your school could define who they are as a people and document it?

mental health initiatives in our community

whether the community is a school, Boys’ or Girls’ Club or neighbourhood, kids are looking at the specific investments they are making in mental health spaces and what impact they are having.

And then sharing ideas with other school groups on a path to healthier future leaders.

Volunteer in Ladakhipedia

we are looking for a team of volunteer coders who can support the launch of the first open-sourced online encyclopaedia in the Himalayas.

Link your school to GCI

we’d love to come to your school, design an entry event and create an inquiry-exchange our learning groups can share. From a day to a month, let’s make a PBL happen.

support off-line villages

we’re linking our remotest Himalayan villages to GCI projects by installing internet-in-a-box and need donations to reach all our learning groups.

we're still under construction. keep checking back as it will all be built by the end of August!
