Shayok feels like home to both Tobie and I. She remembers everyone and everyone remembers her. The relationship has helped kids take some big chances with their DC Cup work this year.
Our favourite? A pantomine movie night and their Student’s business plan – stuffed animals for sale in Delhi.
The kids’ favorite? The fact that all children in the village got to participate in Camp Activities in meaningful ways.

Gosh this was fun. We did a student exchange between the Winter Camps in Kargyam and Shayok.
First the Shayok kids came to Kargyam for three days. Then 6 Kargyam youth went to Shayok. It was just such a joy to watch the kids’ brains start turning about the “neat stuff” they saw in the “other” village that they were determined to introduce in their home
